The Longhill Design Company we have built extensive experience in the restoration of antique furniture, upholstery, hand painting and gilding and have restored furniture from the 15th Century up to the present day. The majority of our restoration work is completed in our workshop, although we can offer an “on-site service” especially on difficult items that are better left in-situ such as Staircases, panelling, beams, doors, windows, shutters and large pianos.
The characteristics of wood to most wood lovers can be perceived for its warmth, colour, texture, its weight and its versatility and most of all its sustainable carbon neutral renewable sources. The Longhill Design Company are more than just a business; we are purveyors of a better Earth and aim to become a PEFC, FSC certified company. An increased use of wood products through specification will stimulate the expansion of the forests and so reduce CO2 ; greenhouse gases. Only a 4% increase in Europe’s yearly wood consumption would appropriate an extra 150m tonnes of CO2 each year. Or look at it this way, only a 10% increase in the production of wooden houses in Europe alone would produce enough CO2 savings that account for an estimated 25% of the reductions prescribed by the Kyoto Protocol!
